What Is Revenue?
Revenue (often called the "top line") is the total amount of money a business brings in from its normal operations before any expenses are deducted.
If you sell 1,000 coffee mugs at $10 each, your revenue is $10,000. It is a critical metric for measuring a company's sales performance and market demand, but it does not tell you if the company is actually financially healthy—because it ignores what it cost to make those sales.
